Dr. Donna Harris is originally from Washington State but she moved with her family to Colorado in the 70′s and she lost her heart to Colorado! She fell in love with the beautiful mountains, gorgeous sunrises and stunning sunsets and made Colorado her home. She did her undergraduate work at the University of Colorado at Denver and obtained her D.V.M. at Colorado State University. After graduation she practiced in the Lakewood, Golden and Arvada areas at multi- doctor practices. In 2005 she returned to CSU to become certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture.
Recently Dr. Harris has had a greater focus on integrative medicine, combining western practices with laser therapy, acupuncture, nutrition and supplements to provide a more holistic approach to her patients’ health. She is also taking continuing education classes which focus on pain management and palliative and hospice care. She feels that by providing a more rounded approach to health she will be better able to provide exceptional care for her patients and their pet parents.
In her off time Dr. Harris enjoys reading, camping and hiking. A strong believer in giving back to the community, she has been a volunteer with Lutheran Pet Therapy for over 20 years and has served a number of years on the Human Animal Bond Trust and has been a volunteer surgeon for the Meow Mobile, a mobile feline spay and neuter facility.
