Registered Veterinary Technician / Pharmacy Lead
Growing up in Southern California, some of Cheryl’s best friends were a dog, a cat and three turtles all of whom she connected with at an early age. Fascinated with animal behavior, she sought every opportunity she could to interact with and assist a variety of creatures, including rehabilitating seals and sea lions at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, conducting behavioral research at San Diego Zoo and becoming a Certified Zoo Keeper at LA Zoo. After graduating college, she spent time traveling the world before walking into a local vet hospital and walking out having secured a new career path. Now, with over 15 years of veterinary technician experience, Cheryl takes pride in leading the pharmacy at Harmony.
From ordering, receiving and managing inventory of all pharmaceuticals and hospital supplies, to filling all prescriptions that arise from appointments or come in as refills, Cheryl is never too busy to run a prescription out to a client or make herself available for questions. Juggling refill requests via phone, website, email and the Harmony app, she contacts clients directly with any questions and notifies them when prescriptions are ready.
Prior to joining Harmony, Cheryl drew experience from clinics large and small, including VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, Highlands Animal Clinic in West Denver and a nearly decade-long tenure at Boulder Veterinary Hospital. She started her career at Hermosa and Morena Pet Hospitals in California, the latter at which is where she found her niche in pharmacy and hospital inventory.
“The vibe at Harmony is so calm. They are organized, focused and thoughtful. I appreciate their integrated focus because utilizing that blend of eastern and western approaches is how I take care of myself. It’s been an opportunity to meld my personal and professional lives,” says Cheryl, also a Certified Yoga Instructor.
Cheryl received her Associates in Arts from El Camino College and her BA in Psychology with a minor in Biology from San Diego State University. Having traveled through Europe twice and the South Pacific once, she relishes the opportunity to meet new people and discover different cultures and the animals they love. When not at the clinic or dreaming of embarking on an African Safari, Cheryl enjoys yoga, cooking, reading, snowboarding and hiking with her dog Bodhi, a terrier mix.
