With Thanksgiving only a few days away, it’s time to start reflecting on what we’re grateful for this fall. Of course we’re grateful for our houses, jobs, and friends, but don’t forget to thank your pets for their amazing love! Pets are family, even if they like to bark every time the doorbell rings or scratch their claws on the new couch. At the end of the day, we are all so thankful to have these crazy yet cute four-legged friends making us smile every day.
Taking the time to give them some well-deserved belly rubs doesn’t just help your furry friend. According to this News In Health Article, new research suggests that “interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure. Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood.”
A few reasons why we are grateful for our pets at Harmony Veterinary Center:
- They’re loyal companions
- Loving cuddles
- They make us laugh! Pets are a constant source of amusement!
- Forming bonds with pets
- Walks and playtimes with them help us to live healthier happier lives.
- Observing all their cute personality quirks
- Seeing their simple joy, which is contagious.
- They are our best friends, and love us unconditionally.
One way to show gratitude for pets this November is to support other animals in the community through Harmony’s pet food drive. We are accepting donations inside our front entrance through the entire month, including pre-sealed dry and wet food. We especially would love to receive more cat food for the variety of community rescue groups who will pick these up and deliver the food to animals in need. Visit us during our normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm, Saturday, 8am-12pm) to provide a Thanksgiving feast for animals throughout the community. All pets are deserving of gratitude and unconditional love.
Don’t forget, your pet is grateful for you too! At HVC, we’d like to thank all of our clients — and all pet owners — for caring for your furry friends. These bonds make every moment of our jobs worth it, and we truly love helping animals progress throughout their lives. Providing food, medical services, and lots of attention can be difficult, but your dog appreciates it more than you know. Your cat, on the other hand, may pretend they don’t appreciate it, but we assure you they do and love you deeply. The bonds between a pet and their owner are an irreplaceable type of love. Take time this Thanksgiving to show gratitude to your pets with snuggles and healthy treats. They’re furr-ever thankful for you!
