RVT, Surgical Lead
As a Lead Surgical Veterinary Nurse with over 11 years of experience, Veronica relishes her position of greeting Harmony’s patients first thing on the mornings of their surgery. If clients have questions pre- or post-op, this Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) is there to provide answers. Behind the scenes, she monitors the clinic’s surgery schedule, ensures proper protocols and systems are followed, and provides clients with surgery estimates. She also specializes in both nutrition and dental work, including cleanings and X-rays.
“I could happily spend all day, every day in the dental suite,” says Veronica. “Performing dental cleanings is extremely satisfying because there is a solid, quantifiable before and after. I know each pet will be healthier for it!”
Prior to Harmony, Veronica spent over eight years as a lead nurse at Clinique Vétérinaire Plateau Mont Royal, a neighborhood pet clinic in Montreal. A native of Canada, she received her BA in Women’s Studies, Sociology and Sexual Diversity from McGill University before applying to various master’s programs and ultimately realizing that working with animals, a life-long dream, was within reach. She went on to receive her CVA from Sheridan College in Ontario.
Veronica moved to Colorado to support her husband’s job and quickly fell in love with the outdoors. She can often be found hiking or camping with her Great Dane, Echo or cooking up a delicious meal. “If wasn’t a pet nurse, I’d be a chef,” shares Veronica. In addition to Echo, Veronica and her husband share their home with four cats – Captain Fabulous, Wicket, Gandalf and Nikki – as well as one Red-Eared Slider Turtle named Oscar. They also regularly foster other pets in need of a temporary home.
“The community mind-set inherent at Harmony is amazing,” says Veronica. I’ve always appreciated that they put the needs of patients before anything else. The vibe is so positive, and I know every staff member has each other’s back. It’s simply a great place to be.”
